Chevrolet commemorate Earth Day by introducing all-new 2013 Chevrolet Malibu ECO, the most efficient midsize sedan fuel in 100 years of recorded history. Features eAssist ™ “electrification of light” is a technology that is engineered to provide an estimated 26 mpg in city driving and 38 mpg on the highway without sacrificing performance.
by traversing six continents over 22 months, 2013 Chevrolet Malibu has been successfully tested over 1 million miles, or 1.6 million kilometers.
ECO is based on the all-new sedan, Malibu 2013, which will be sold in nearly 100 countries on six continents. Sales of the new Malibu began with the ECO model in the United States in early 2012. Malibu LS, LT and LTZ trim level offerings join the ECO in summer 2012. Prices will be announced later.
“Chevrolet Malibu ECO is a smart choice for customers who want fuel economy very well without the premium price of the popular hybrid sedan,” said Rick Scheidt, Chevrolet marketing vice president. “38-mpg estimated highway Malibu ECO is comparable to a hybrid.”
Malibu eAssist system that uses state-of-the-art lithium-ion battery and electric motor generator to enable regenerative braking electric assist and start-stop functionality. It is efficiently sized, weighing only 65 pounds (29 kg).
Chevrolet Malibu ECO also features an aerodynamic exterior – including the additional underbody aero – and electronically controlled louvres in the lower to close at a higher speed to push more air over and around the vehicle. These enhancements increase aerodynamic efficiency to improve fuel economy.

The all-new Malibu exterior design brings the DNA of the sister vehicle, the Camaro and Corvette. A wider stance, broad shoulders and a rear spoiler integrated bringing a new athleticism to Malibu and provides more aggressive track-tested performance. It has a wheelbase (114mm) 4.5-inch shorter and 62-inch (1574 mm) front and rear tracks are more than 2 inches (51mm) wider than the model it replaces.
